The weather vane is mounted using a bracket or a threaded rod.
Both parts can be purchased additionally.

The weather vane originated in early medieval Europe and became especially popular on church towers and farms. It was used as a simple weather indicator to show the direction of the wind.

The first documented use of a weathercock was in the 9th century when Pope Nicholas I (c. 820-867) ordered all churches to have a cock on the roof as a reminder of the Apostle Peter's denial of Jesus - the cock crowing three times.

Over time, the weathervane became a popular decoration on farms and buildings, where it was often made of metal and moulded into various shapes, although the rooster remained the most traditional form.
