Diving helmets

Diving has a long history, but it wasn't until the 19th century that the first proper diving helmets appeared. They were attached to a neckpiece that rested on the diver's shoulder. The diving helmets were made of copper and brass and had three or four small glass windows, the large one screwed on at the end.

Inside the helmet was a valve to regulate air consumption and buoyancy. Air was supplied via a pump, with the air being pumped through a hose into the helmet. Inside the helmet was a valve for excess air. The valve was also used to regulate buoyancy. Back then, equalization was almost impossible, and diver's sickness was a common problem.

While the treasure hunters used to travel above the water, the diving helmet now made it possible to dive down to the thousands of shipwrecks. Many divers earned golden noses as grave robbers of the deep.

Our diving helmets are replicas and for decoration only.

A diving helmet can be a great gift for someone who just got their diving license.
