Model of Bluenose - Canadian schooner from 1921
length 74 cm - height 66 cm
Bluenose was a Canadian fishing and racing schooner from Nova Scotia built in 1921. An honorable ship and hard-working fishing vessel, Bluenose was under the command of Angus Walters and became an icon of Nova Scotia and an important Canadian symbol in the 1930s. She was later celebrated with a replica Bluenose II built in 1963; leaky and worn out, it was dismantled in 2010, and rebuilt in the same shipyard as its ancestors in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, and was launched in 2013 under the name "Bluenose II" The name originated as a nickname for Nova Scotians from as early as the late 18th century.
